Evaluation

Overall the Thursday drawing sessions have proven to be very helpful for my own practice, as my main focus is on my illustrations and colour themes.
I believe the life drawing sessions helped me to rebuild my confidence with drawing after the summer break, I think working quickly and having time limits helps me to put more confidence and strength behind my lines which makes the drawing more realistic to shape and size as this is what you notice about the life model rather than the details of the body. I have tried to apply this aspect into my project work and create more stronger shapes.
I have learn't that it is also better to be stronger with your lines then shading ruff light lines, it makes work look more bold and has a greater impact.
I also enjoyed the colour work as this is one element to my work that I was already working on improving. I find it hard to determine the best colours which work well together, however working with dark, light and mid tones and making colour palettes has defiantly helped me to plan more in advance with the colours in my work as well as making me realise how important colour is. I now use colour palettes in my sketchbook to help.
Another part of the course which I also found very useful was practising sketching techniques to symbolise certain words I.e greasy slap I learn't that spending time on drawing different surfaces is just as important as the main outline of the shape as it adds a three dimensional aspect.
Overall I have progressed a lot from the drawing days and hope to continue.
